PH3’s Craft Brewery Tour: Orange County Brewers
Our most recent brew-venture took us to Orange County Brewers, in the heart of Downtown Orlando. Located on the corner of Orange Avenue and Jefferson Street in what used to be the Fiat building, OCB opened their doors in August 2017, with Brewmaster Amanda Roberts steering the brewery ship.
From ales, lagers, pilsners, and stouts to IPA’s, hefeweizens and porters, OCB also features a craft pizza kitchen operated by Orlando Pizza and Wing Co.
Strolling in on a somewhat chilly winter afternoon (for Florida’s standards), we set up shop on one of their long high chair tables. Greeted by a number of OCB kegs and giant Jenga, we couldn’t help but admire that a lot of effort was put into making this establishment a permanent fixture in the Downtown Orlando scene. Oh—and be sure to look up to see the whole beer making process painted on a brick ceiling.
PH3 Top Brews
As with every visit, we took flight with OCB’s Florida shaped wooden beer flights, and here are three brews that got our beer taste buds going:
Dankster of Love IPA, 9% ABV
Bitter yet easy drinking, which we don’t say very often. The first sip was pretty harsh, but the more we drank, the smoother it got.
Bleached Blonde Ale, 4.7% ABV
Another easy drinking, Florida-esque brew. This single-hopped ale made us feel a little light-headed, in a good way.
Tele-Porter, 10% ABV
Chocolaty, smooth and perfectly balanced. A brew that truly tele-portered us.
Although we didn’t get to experience the pizza side of OCB, we did get to devour some of their smoked wings. They were nothing short of amazingly delicious, so be sure to arrive hungry. Orange County Brewers is not only one of the newest kids on the Orlando brewery block, it’s the only one in the heart of Downtown Orlando! Thank you OCB, we will definitely be visiting you again.
